BOB - Screen Time Manager - Manage Your TV Time & Video Game Time
This, I also bought a sheet of tamper-evident holographic stickers, and used those to attach the HDMI cables to the HDMI switch and to the consoles. This way, my kids cannot simply swap cables without me knowing it. So I've set it up for each of my three children to have their own PIN code and an associated amount of time per week. The logging features let me see how much has been used so far in a week. (I'm happy to report that the logging let me catch child #2 using child #3's time, when #2 guessed #3's PIN code.) And checking the log lets me see how each child uses time during the week. #2 uses it all in the first couple days, such as, so I can definitely help counsel them about delayed gratification. All in all, it's a great tool at a very reasonable price, which has given me much-needed improved ability to raise my children in a digital world.
Beth Mundy gave this product 5.0 out of 5 stars and reviewed it in the United States on May 30, 2015. She wrote, "Perfect for training a teenager with an XBox addiction. Perfect for our needs, although I am using it a little bit differently than they recommended. I have three teens with different gaming preferences, and we were having nearly daily arguments over gaming console usage. So I wanted something that would let me throttle their video game console use to certain amounts of time at certain times of the day."
She continues, "HOW I use this box might potentially be unique, and something you could consider. One of the commonly-cited problems with this unit is that cutting power to an XBox can wipe out saved games or damage the hard drive. And cutting power to the TV disables the TV for other purposes, and also causing trouble with the TV's internet features. I wanted to not affect regular TV or DVD use - only the game consoles. So I installed this to cut the power to an HDMI switch box which selects between several gaming consoles."
Another reviewer, Nancy C. McCord, gave 1.0 out of 5 stars and stated, "Constantly went into auto shutdown. We couldn't watch a movie without having to get up 5-10 times to enter the access code. If you don't get up it turns the TV off.love the concept but it was not designed very well."
Alexandre L. from Canada rated it 5.0 out of 5 stars and noted, "Fini la chicane avec les enfants ! J'ai acheté cet appareil parce que mon fils de 7 ans piquait des crises lorsqu'on lui demandais de fermer la télévision.Cela est totalement terminé puisqu'il ne peut pas l'ouvrir seul."
