Our Summertime Staple
I've been using these cast iron grill weights for a while now, and they've become a staple in my kitchen. They're incredibly heavy-duty and grate for pressing down meat, bacon, and even making perfect paninis. The pre-seasoning makes them easy to use right out of the box,but I still make sure to clean them properly and dry them thoroughly afterward, just like with a cast iron pan. The wooden handles are a nice touch – they don't get too hot, which is a plus when cooking on a griddle.

Diving into Design and Durability
I've been using these cast iron grill weights for a while now, and they're fantastic. They're heavy-duty and perfect for pressing down burgers, bacon, and even paninis. The pre seasoning makes getting started easy, but you do need to clean and dry them properly before oiling, just like cast iron. The wooden handles stay cool, which is a plus, though the spot where the metal and wood meet can get hot. They clean up well and hold up through heavy use. The only downside is that the wooden handles might dry out over time, so I soak mine in oil occasionally.

My Experience with These Grill Weights
I've been using these heavy-duty cast iron grill weights for a while now, and they've become an essential tool in my kitchen. They're perfect for pressing down burgers, bacon, and even making perfectly seared steaks. The pre-seasoning is a huge plus, as it gets me started without any extra prep. The wooden handles are a nice touch – they don't get too hot, making it easier to handle the press while cooking. However, I did notice that the area where the wood meets the metal can get quite hot, so I've been careful to avoid burning myself. they're durable, easy to clean, and make a huge difference in my grilling results.
Pros and Cons
- Heavy-duty construction – Sturdy enough to press down even thick cuts of meat without breaking.
- Cooks evenly – Prevents food from burning on the edges while maintaining a nice crust in the middle.
- Pre-seasoned – Ready to use out of the box, saving me the trouble of seasoning.
- Wooden handles – Comfortable to grip and don't conduct heat as much as metal.
- Handle attachment area – Can get hot around where the wood meets the metal.
- Requires care – Needs proper cleaning and drying (especially after washing) to prevent rust.

I leave the grease on there or else they will rust. You have to season them just like you would a griddle. I just place them on a small towel after using. the wooden handles are nice and don’t get hot, however where the cast iron and the handle meet do get hot and I have ouched myself a few times. But everyone does when cooking in a griddle.
All in all, I really like the product. Nice and heavy. Does just what it is indeed intended to do.

Read more Helpful Report Byron 4.0 out of 5 stars These things are heavy!! Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2023Size: 2Verified Purchase There are a lot brands and products to choose from but, what I like about this set is that they are made of cast iron.
It reminds of the cast iron skillets my mom use and nurtured to get the best cooking results. So I choose these just based on the longevity and quality of cast iron.
Having mentioned that, I have not use them yet, so I can't give an update on functionality.
However, I have worked in a restaurant, and grill presses gives protein that char look you see in magazines that make your mouth drool!!!
I have since bought a set for myself and another for my grilling buddy. Plus, they are priced just right too!!!!

Heavy enough to dod thw job well. With care should last a lifetime.
The only thing that will need extra care is the wooden handles.Over time (several years) I expect the handle would dry out and crack or split.
Mine is still new so I took off the handle off and soaked in mineral oil overnight.
Since handles were off I seasoned the cast iron twice.
Applied oil, set oven to 450 for 30 minutes.
I let them cool for 3 hours then repeated the process.
In my experience a little effort now will pay off in the future.
I absolutely hate rust and I live near the gulf coast.
If I didn't do this now I would end up tossing them when the rust started.
Did I mention I hate rust?
