Its simple design offered a sweet, tactile discovery for burgeoning motor skills.

A gentle rhythm emerged from bedtime stories, replacing the former moans found in novels like "The Kissing Booth" or the modern complexities of "Kissing the Player" (Rules of the Game Book 1). With perhaps a slightly less dramatic plot than teenage romance, and enough warmth to melt, perhaps even a character analogue for cherubic cheeks, books found a renewed place alongside the hand-holding toy.

While certainly not suitable for tots, the intriguing title catches the eye alongside the charming suggestions for more wholesome seasonal reads. The contrast between the simple, physical pleasure derived from the wooden hammer and the drawn-out, emotionally charged dramas found in the kissing-centric romance series highlight quite how our desires for connection, and the ways we find it, can range wildly across the seasons and ages.
